Presenting "Nicole Miller Bridal" at Mary Me!

If I only had two words to describe the Nicole Miller bridal aesthetic I would immediately say,

"Effortlessly Chic"

You've probably heard of the widely popular American fashion designer, most known for her high end ready-to-wear line.  Her designs have graced the likes of Angelina Jolie, Joss Stone, Jennifer Aniston, BeyoncĂ©, Blake Lively, Eva Longoria, and so on.  It's no wonder with such great success she would go on to create a beautiful and successful bridal line!

Elegant cuts, form-flattering ruching, sophisticated draping; Nicole implements classic Parisian couture technique with her modern sexy designs.
A look that has become her signature.

We are proud to announce that Mary Me Bridal will now be carrying Nicole Miller Bridal!

As Fall has somehow crept up on us, we've now closed the books on our Summer weddings and look forward to our upcoming Fall weddings.  Being in a bridal salon like Mary Me affords one a firsthand experience of the popular trends in bridal fashion for any season, just by spending time with brides!  So now we're bringing you the most popular Fall bridal trends from the brides themselves...

The Open Back

Brides are constantly coming in our salon asking for this sultry look. A wedding gown with an open back affords one to look both elegant and alluring. So if you want to show off that sexy back, check out these examples from our floor...

Long Sleeves

Sleeves are exploding in the bridal world. On top of keeping you warm in the cool Fall weather, they provide a romantic, vintage, European look instantly.  Sleeves have a way of relaying an old world nostalgia that all types of guests can appreciate. They also draw the eye to the decolletage bringing more attention to the face.

Bateau Neck

A bateau neck on a wedding gown is unique as well as chic.  It's the perfect look for the elegant, sweet, and feminine bride, and provides a nice frame for the face.  It's a look that fits all ages and is especially complimentary for nautical themed weddings.

All the gowns featured are available at Mary Me Bridal.

High-Low Hems: The Bridesmaids Trend for 2013

As the new 2013 bridesmaids collections have been pouring into our store, there's one style that somehow finds it's way into every box. The style dubbed by the fashion industry as, "The High-Low Hem".  It's a fun new trend for bridal parties looking for a more unconventional and playful look.  And it's perfect for Spring/Summer weddings coming up just around the corner.  (Not to mention it looks great in photos if you can catch that light afternoon breeze.)
In addition, many of these styles you can actually wear again! I know, I know, it's been said one too many times before. But really, this time it's true! It's just formal enough for a wedding, and just casual and trendy enough for a night-out with friends, a dinner date, or even holidays. And you don't even have to hem it shorter.

Designers showing this trend include Jim Hjelm, Bari Jay, Dessy, Watters, and Jasmine. Come to Mary Me Bridal's bridesmaids salon to check them out!

Something Blue

"Something old, something new,
Something borrowed, something blue"
How about a gorgeous wedding gown with pale blue accents from up and coming designer Tara Lauren? This post is sister to our last post, about the new colored wedding gown trend that almost every wedding designer is showcasing. This new whimsical, feminine, and romantic gown is made with delicate pale blue lace across the bodice and a thin veil of pale blue tulle layered throughout the skirt.  To top if off the beaded hand made sash across the waist is a muted yellow to complement the gorgeous blue. Truly a dress from a fairytale. This dress can also be custom made to match your color preferences. Prefer blush pink? mint green? pale yellow? soft lavender?  Almost any color you prefer, this designer can accommodate.  But here's the thing, this gown is exclusively available at Mary Me Bridal! Try checking anywhere else in the world, you won't find it unless you're in our salon. I promise! Come in to see and try on this beautiful gown, it's truly one of a kind...

Here Comes the Bride, All Dressed in...Pink?

Long gone are the days of walking down the aisle in a pure white dress, this year bridal designers all over the world are showcasing color.  So leave your traditions at the door because this season everything goes.
Most of the colors we're seeing in the store this year are shades of blush, pink, and oatmeal.  This includes several designers like Watters, Maggie Sottero, Kitty Chen, Allure, and Enzoani. It's no wonder after Jessica Biel's famous pink gown in her wedding to Justin Timberlake this year that a flurry of pink wedding gowns would hit the runway.

(Jessica Biel in her unorthodox pink Giambattista Valli wedding dress)

Here are a couple gowns by designers right in our own store who've taken on this color trend...

Kitty Chen even has a few dresses in mint and red.

Other designers are taking an even bolder step, making gowns in black. A gothic chic, romantic and dramatic effect. This includes designers like Enzoani and Watters.

Whether you want to be the bold, fun and flirtatious bride, or the dramatic gothic chic bride, the questions is would you buy a colored gown? Come to Mary Me and try one on! You just might be surprised...

Q & A with Photographer Valentina Glidden

Saying a Photographer is only as good as their camera, is like saying a baker is only as good as their oven. Valentina Glidden is a talented portrait and wedding photographer located in Southern California, who photographed the wedding of one of our own bride's, Krista Moline, and her husband Derek Jacobsen. The wedding, as you can see, from the photos below, was beautiful. But it takes a skilled photographer to capture those memories as beautiful as they were in the moment to last forever.  I asked Valentina a few questions about her experience in wedding photography including how to get compelling shots, advice for the camera shy, and her experience of the Moline and Jacobsen wedding...

Check out her blog: http://blog.valentinaglidden.com/

Me: What made you want to become a photographer?

Valentina: I grew up in a photography world. Both of my parents are photographers but I never really thought about becoming one myself. One day I started playing with my husband’s camera and asked a friend if she would model for me. I honestly didn’t think I was going to love it as much as I did but since that day photography has been my passion.

Me: What is your favorite thing about shooting weddings?

Valentina: My favorite thing about weddings is the smiles and tears. Happy tears, of course! I absolutely love being able to capture the emotion on the bride, the groom and their family and friends. I love that I get to capture a celebration of love and the union between 2 people who absolutely love each other.

Me: What moments or shots do you look for? Or what are the most compelling shots for you?

Valentina: I love being able to capture emotion. I think crying photos are my favorite! I also love ceremony photos. They tend to be my favorite photos from a wedding. I remember from my own wedding being on cloud 9 as I said “I do” to my husband, and it makes me so excited knowing that in that moment, that couple is feeling that much excitement and joy. It shows in their faces and I get to capture it so they can treasure that forever!

Me: What are three words that describe your work?

Valentina: Classic, elegant and romantic

Me: Describe your experience shooting the Moline and Jacobsen wedding.

Valentina: Krista and Derek’s wedding was beautiful! The details, the location, the dress, the bride and the groom. Everything was spectacular! My absolutely favorite part was their vows. They wrote them themselves and they had me tearing up behind my camera. Their reception was also a blast!

Me: What advice do you have to those who are nervous to have their photo taken or do a "photo shoot"? Do you often have customers who feel this way?
Valentina: I think it’s normal to be nervous before photo shoots. I get nervous whenever I step in front of the camera. I think my biggest advice is for the couple to trust the photographer. My best work comes out when couples trust me and trust my work. The great thing about couples is you have your significant other by your side and I think that helps the nerves. I definitely have had clients be nervous! I always tell them we’re there to have fun and I plan to capture their love in the process.
